Aroostook Huskies Football Accomplishments To Date
We are proud of the things we have managed to do in bringing football to an area where there was none and starting the process of creating a true football culture. Since our inception, this is what we have done:
Successful participation (2000) in both a Spring Tackle Program sponsored by the NFL and a Fall Northern Maine Football League involving approximately 30 middle school boys and girls
Creation of a strong local elected Board with solid ties to the community
Ongoing successful fund raising efforts utilizing a multi-prize raffle, an annual talent show, a flag football tournament for adults, an alumni tackle football game and a rock concert resulting in ongoig fiscal solvency/sustainabilityConstruction of our own football field in 2018-19
Affiliation with the Presque Isle and Caribou Police Departments in the National Police Athletic League
Successful completion of three seasons of six-man football (2003-05), six seasons of eight-man football (2006-11 and ten season of eleven-man football (2012-19, 21-22) at high school level.
Facilitated creation of teams in all areas of Aroostook County
Successful completion of 14 seasons of eight-man football at middle school level (2008-19, 21-22)
Successful creation of a Flag Football porgram for kids in grades 1-6 in partnership with SAD 1 (2016-19, 21-22)
Had one of our coaches selected twice to represent Maine at the NFL's Coaching Summit in Canton, Ohio
Ownership of first rate equipment for 200 players
First site in Maine to hold the High School Player Development (HSPD) camp in conjunction with the NFL and the National Guard (2008-2013)
Selected to be a pilot site for the NFL's Head's Up safety program (2013) and the first program in Maine to adopt modern playing safety standards for concussion and neck safety
Had one of our coaches selected as USA Football’s first ever Community Member of the Month
